Recommendation letters
When seeking a letter of recommendation, it's crucial to select someone who knows your work well and can convincingly discuss your qualifications. If you are asking me a letter, make sure to remind me of how you did in my class or any other research/teaching interaction you may have had with me in the past. Highlight any reason why my letter may be particularly relevant to your application. Also make sure to highlight any accomplishment/prize/award that I should mention in the letter. If you have any writing sample/original research/thesis please include them in your material and send a brief summary of those.
Select an Appropriate Recommender: Ensure that the person you approach has a deep understanding of your skills and has directly observed your achievements.
Contact Early: Get in touch with your recommender well in advance—preferably several weeks or months before the letter is needed. This provides them with sufficient time to craft a thoughtful and comprehensive letter
